There’s something magical about the harvest season in Provence — a reminder that life’s best moments often happen when you take off your shoes, get a little messy, and savor the sweetness of the moment.

There are some experiences that seem straight out of a dream — or at least an old film reel — and grape stomping in Provence is one of them.

When our returning guests booked a weeklong Le Farmhouse Stay in September, we asked if there was anything special they hoped to do during their visit. “We’d love to join a grape harvest,” they said without hesitation.

We gave them two options: the real deal — an early start and a long day helping friends hand-harvest their vineyard (authentic, but hard work!) — or a curated, joy-filled experience at our friends Lisa and Johann’s organic farm, Les Pastras, in Cadenet. They chose wisely.
